Charities

United Way

Acklands-Grainger has been a national partner with the United Way since 2000. With the support of team members who volunteer to be part of the United Way campaign team, our company participates in the annual fundraising campaign every September and October. Employees across the country participate in many fun filled events to raise money and awareness for the United Way. Through our Canada-wide efforts, Acklands-Grainger continues to make positive and significant contributions to the communities where we live and work.

The Children’s Wish Foundation, Saskatchewan Chapter

The Children’s Wish Foundation – Saskatchewan Chapter and Acklands Grainger formed a strategic and sustainable alliance 21 years ago. The Children’s Wish Foundation receives countless benefits from the partnership that is far-reaching and extensive. The largest benefit is the Chapter staff can focus much of their resources on the mandate of granting favourite wishes to children ages 3 – 17 years living with a diagnosis that is high risk and life threatening. Having a secure and spacious office, storage, boardroom, and large classroom to meet with volunteers reduces time spent on operational issues. Additional concerns such as building maintenance issues/repairs, and parking are all taken care of by Acklands-Grainger.

Sharing the same physical space at the Acklands Grainger office in Saskatoon provides an opportunity for members of the company to be highly involved and knowledgeable about day-to-day operations of the Charity. Getting to meet families and children throughout the year at company sponsored wish family events is another great benefit of this program. The company is deeply connected to the charity and knows first hand how the wish-granting program positively enhances each wish child’s life.

In 2005 Acklands Grainger and The Children’s Wish Foundation were presented with the Saskatoon Community Foundation Strategic Alliance Award. The award is in recognition of a successful business/charity partnership in the community and demonstrates how a charity and business can work cooperatively together to make a long lasting and positive impact in the community.

Acklands-Grainger has entered into a partnership with Canadian Occupational Safety (COS) to launch Canada's Safest Employer's Award. This is the first-ever nationwide search for outstanding employers making a difference in occupational health and safety. In its inaugural year, Canada's Safest Employers will award companies in the manufacturing industry, recognizing the sector's unique health and safety challenges and honouring those companies that continue to overcome them.
